Gardening Time

Gardening, I've read, provides some health benefits so I included it as one of my pastimes.

For me, it helps me to relax. It gives me joy as I see the beautiful results, the fruits of my labor.  It also gives me pride to being able to grow my own herbs and vegetable garden (however small).

In my small vegetable garden...

My ZZ plant a.k.a. welcome plant which I successfully propagated.

I also wanted to grow succulent plants because it is easy to take care of.  

I now have some Aloe Vera which I re-potted which I learned are good for cuts and burns.

Next, is my snake plants, spider plants, and orchids!  And I hope my basils will grow too!

Flower Find Friday: Dona Aurora

Traveling to Los Banos Laguna every Monday gives me the chance to pass by some plant shops around the area.  Finally, I decided to stop and got to take home some flowering plants.

One of those I brought home is Dona Aurora mussaenda philippica.  It was named after the wife of President Manuel Quezon, Aurora Aragon.

I was more surprise to see that it has a yellow-orange mini flower in the middle.  I taught it's just white all over.

I can't wait for it to grow taller and is excited to see how beautiful it would be!

Next time, I wish I could find and own a Dona Luz (salmon-pink in color) and a Dona Evangelina (red in color) flowering plants in the future.

From Garden to Table

This is our home-made "Atchara"!

It is pickled papaya appetizer.

 Mom made it for us.

We harvested some papaya fruit from my garden.

 

When flowers started coming out, I never thought it will give me sooo 

much fruits.

 

I was planning to cut it down but it is still giving me fruits,

so I regret to do so.

It is still growing taller and taller and bearing more fruits

and reward me with the tasty "Atchara"!

Daisy

I started planting daisies in our garden last week.
I'm not a "green thumb" as they say, but still I wanted to try my luck with daisies.

Look at it now!

Not bad for a starter... ^_^

Next time, I will try my luck with roses ...

Macro Monday

Wednesday Whites - Kamuning Flowers

Also known as Murraya Paniculata or Orange Jasmine. It is famous for its fragrant white flowers that smells like jasmine.


Makes me feel good when it blooms. I placed it in my front porch so I can smell its sweet fragrant everytime I step out of my door.

Harvest Time

We have a garden at the side of our house and we decide to plant some vegetables and herbs and fruit-bearing plants.

Here are some of our harvests:


tomatoes (we already harvested around 20kilos)


eggplants (harvested more than 10pcs already!)

My husband takes care of our plant saying he's talking to them while watering them every morning before he goes to work.



My husband and my kids are now enjoying our garden so much.





There's a lot more to do with our garden but as for now, we are so happy with what it's given us!

Fixing our garden

My husband and I are in the process of fixing our garden. We decided to plant some flowers, herbs and spices, some fruit-bearing plants and vegetables around the area. In the process, we also taught it best to put some bricks as pathway. After purchasing almost 500pcs of bricks, here's how it looks...





We're going to put bermuda grass in the middle to make it looks larger and the plants will have to be on the side. We still need around 300pcs more of bricks before we can start planting. I just can't wait for us to finish it...I'm so excited on how its going to turn out!
